The reasons why they're problem in the economy is because of three reasons. The first issue they bring is the large amount of money that is used to buy these products to be use on the farms. A bag of GMO seeds would go for $150 dollars, mean that for one acres it will take more than $700 dollars to cover it. In which leave only rich, successful owner to buy them, while the average owners can't compete with them because they can't afford the product or unable meet the standard to production. The next issue is that most these GMO producers are not really bio-engineer by helpful groups. They are actually chemical companies that want to expand there profits. The reason why they're a problem is because if they monopolize they can control all distribution foods and other products and put prices that they think it fair, also having a massive product line to keep the supplies going. While they do that, they can place rules to determine who can benefit from it and who they can benefit from. In which they can increases prices even more due to the high demand making the buyer purchase more just to keep up production. An example of them monopolizing in a report "The 10 Companies Controlling the world's Seed Supply" by Christina Sarich stating on Monsanto, "This is the biggest seed-mongering company of them all. Although some of these companies say that their products are safe due to the studies that they conducted in their labs. However, most of these studies were under a short study spanned of under three month and did not prove facts that GMOs are safe to consume. However, a professor of the name Gilles-Eric Seralini did a extensive rescreach that is still on going with other resreacher by experimenting with rats. He wanted to know what type of affects that GMOs cause to the body, so he feed the rats with maize seeds. Overtime during the study they notices certain changes to them. In the article "Republished study: long-term toxicity of a Roundup herbicide and a Roundup-tolerantgenetically modified maize by Emilie Clair and other state the following cause that happen similar to Seralini,"Females developed large mammary tumors more frequently and before controls; the pituitary was the second most disabled organ; the sex hormonal balance was modified by consumption of GM maize and Roundup treatments.Males presented up to four times more large palpable tumors starting 600 daysearlier than in the control group, in which only one tumor…"(sec2). This report tell how GMOs can effect the body because the damages done to the rat's body is equal to forty to sixty years to a human being. This show the result that could happen to a person when they are expose to GMOs for a long
