Is evil innate within humans or is it an influence from society? This question lies as the base of the novel, Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding and has been continuously queried on throughout humanity. We hear headlines like: “A place where children beg to die” and “19-year-old claims police brutality by Warren PD.” This kind of cruel behavior is still in place, whether it’s on battlefields or school grounds. Bullying, war, racism, abuse- to this day, all these problems still occur, yet I still disagree that humans are born depraved, corrupt. Personally, I qualify the claim that behaviours such as bullying and war are part of human nature. I do not agree that humans are born as savages, I see humans as blank canvases that are changed
