Everything happens for a reason, right? I born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; in a poor ghetto neighborhood. When I was four years old, my father left my mother and she became a single mother raising two kids on her own. In the long run, she meets my stepdad; who is an illegal Mexican immigrant and has two kids with him. On March 21, 2008, my stepdad was going to take my siblings and I to school. As we were about to leave, two men in black uniform came up to the car and asked us to go back inside the house. The men in uniforms jacket said ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). They went through our things as my stepfather called my mom to come home from work. As soon as mom got home, she was crying and ICE took him away. My mom put her story out there for everyone else to hear and did all that she could to bring him back, but there was no hope. He’ll be able to return when my brother is eighteen; right now my brother is thirteen. Well on June 22, 2009 my life changed. Moving from Milwaukee, WI to Oklahoma changed my life because it took me out of bad habits, a fresh positive start, and focus on my future.
Growing up in a poor ghetto neighborhood was difficult. Bad influences were all around the city. For example, in middle school, I had many school friends that was having sex a the age of twelve and fourteen. Many of them were in gangs, always getting in fights and doing drugs.
