Is enough being done concerning the mental health of prisoners around the world? Prisoners struggle with mental health daily when incarcerated, some feel prisons should help those in need with treatment, and others feel they need to be left to deal with the consequences of their own actions. Although prisoners have put themselves in the position of being in harsh conditions as well as other prisoners, they are still people who need help just like common men and women who suffer from mental disorders. People who are not in prison struggle daily with mental health and willingly go to therapy and take medication for those issues to get better. Prisoners are the same as everyday people; they are only put into different conditions due to their actions in life. Prisoners can be manic or demented and while in treatment they can lash out and hurt the attending therapist or fellow prisoners. This brings a conflicted decision to help a severely mentally ill person while in need, which could end up putting another person in life-threatening danger. It should be discussed if the prisoners should be left to suffer and be wrongly treated by the guards in prison. Or should treatment plans, including therapy, be put in place to help the prisoners get the help they need? Over many years, prisoners are known to be misunderstood in many ways.
