I will conduct a research to answer this question. I will first make a correlational study and then, a true experiment. Those research methods among others in psychology will help me determine any correlational or cause and effect relationship between eating breakfast and doing better in school.
Hypothesis: Eating breakfast really help student improving their academic performance.
Correlational Study In a correlational research, we observe without manipulating two or more naturally occurring variables to find a relationship between them. The operational definition of the breakfast is a meal made of eggs, bread served with a fruit juice. The academic performance is defined as how well the students will do on the test and will be measuring

For a true experiment to be a TRUE experiment, participants must be randomly assigned to groups and the independent variable must be manipulated. To conduct the experiment, I must have two variables: an independent and dependent variable. My independent variable is the breakfast. This the one that I will be controlling. Whereas, my dependent variable will be the academic performance. This is the one that I will be measuring. In fact, the experimental group will be served a breakfast prior going into the classroom and taking the quiz. On the other hand, the control group won 't be served any breakfast prior to take the …show more content…
I will request students not to eat anything before coming to school this morning. Then, I would have a computer generate random assignment of these students into two groups 100 would be in the experimental group and the other 100 in the control group. Each child would come into the classroom and I would them that I would like them to take a quiz on what their teacher discussed the previous day in their English class, but first hey would have to wait, and I 'll get back to them when it 's their turn. Of course, the operational group would wait in a room different from the experimental group. Then, the students in the experimental group will be given a breakfast composed of eggs, bread and fruit juice. The other group won 't be given any breakfast. The child will then be led into the classroom where their English teacher will distribute the multiple choice test. I would have every student complete the test, the only difference will be that students in the experimental group had breakfast, while those in the operational group did not. At the end of the class, test will be collected and graded. Then I will look at my results and see how did the students who received the breakfast on the test. I will also look at how did the students who did not received the breakfast on the

Within the passed few days multiple, treacherous and seemingly never ending winter storms made there way through New England. All the snow sparked hibernation but also curiosity within me. I have noticed through out the last week that even the most experienced with snow are sent into frenzy at the sight of a single snowflake. Rhode Island, although small has a huge stereotype of freaking out the second someone says “snow”, but in a very strange way. With every storm whether it be hurricane Sandy or winter storm Nemo residents of Rhode Island are said to run out and get milk and bread, but why?…

The experiment consists of two parts. First, we need to randomly select children from low income families and randomly assign them into two groups: A and B, recording their fitness like BMI data. Second, we have to manipulate one and the only one independent variable which is the presence versus the absence of exercise and measure the dependent variable which is the children’s BMI data. To be specific, we keep one group of children do exercise every day and another group be more sedentary as well as control all other conditions or variables equal. Also, to avoid the experimenter expectancy effect and the placebo effect, we should let other researchers assign the groups without knowing which one is the experimental group or control group by ourselves.…

As a result, if the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program were modified to include lower calorie options, such as by implementing lower calorie sweeteners instead of regular sugar and more fruit and vegetables, it would impact a wide variety of students with differences in socioeconomic status and ethnicity. Since the National School Lunch Program was historically established for the purpose of battling hunger in the under fed the impact on children and adolescents of essentially revising the purpose of the program must be considered. One possible concern with modifying the National School Lunch Program to address the issues of obesity is that there could be a rise seen in the percentage of underweight children as a result. One proposed method to prevent this incidence was to encourage underweight children to enroll in the school breakfast program.…

Eating healthy allows students to have the energy to perform well in school and sports. Foods that contain a lot of nutrients and vitamins offer a long digestion time, giving you a slower and stable release of energy (Straight Health). The longer the digestion will take, the longer your energy will last. Principals often call during the week standardized testing to say to get plenty of rest and eat a healthy breakfast. A healthy breakfast can actually help students with testing because a meal containing complex carbohydrates, protein, fat, etc. can prevent a drop in blood sugar and allow students to last throughout the day (Healthier).…
