Discipline And Abuse Essay

A simple punch on the arm, a hard slap to the face, a severe whip with the belt, what exactly is considered too far? Most families were raised with being hit, however not all, so therefore others consider that abuse. But, is discipline really abuse? First of all, discipline means to use punishment to get the desired behavior. Abuse on the other hand means to misuse something. For ages, decades, and centuries a lot of parents have been using discipline to get their children to behave the correct way. I myself, am one of those children. Have I been abused? No. I have not. I know for a fact, if I would not have been disciplined then my behavior would be completely out of hand and disorderly. A simple scorn for me does not work, because it does not scare me, or make me want to change my behavior. All I will expect after doing something wrong will be a simple yell. I agree, because not everyone spanks their children for all the right reasons. Some parents go overboard and strike their child because they simply feel like it. In those cases, it leads to abuse and sadly, most times abuse leads to death. I recall watching the news one day and hearing about a five year old girl who was murdered by her own father, prepare yourself for this, because she was caught drawing on his Jordan’s. If her father would have never thought that striking his child was okay in the first place, then maybe this death could have been prevented. But, since so many parents strike their children, when they get livid to a point where they do not know right from wrong, then how exactly can they stop themselves from committing a tragedy? If people actually listened to the Bible then life would be as bad as it is
