Some questions whether cyborg is a human or a machine. Through researching about this topic, cyborg is not a human. Cyborg is a mechanical elements that built into the body for physical abilities. Cyborg can help with vision, hearing, olfactory, haptic, and gustatory senses. It is capable of understanding a certain thing can adapt to changes in outside environments. Overall, cyborgs can be helpful but it can also have disadvantage in the long run. Since computers are smarter than people because of its ability to hold memories do almost everything that humans can without needing a coffee breaks or sleep, this can lead us to jobless in some field. According to Alphabet own robotics company, they released a video of the atlas organizing boxes. It made humans reconsider if we still need to hire employees to do a task that can be easily done by a robot. Another real life example is how Republic Services has changed their trash services. According to Fox 5 News “Instead of two trash pickups per week, there will only be one, and recycling pickups will go from every two weeks to every week.” Based on the news, this can result in fewer jobs for humans since robots can do jobs quicker than humans. America has taken over by robots more everyday because of how advanced technologies has become. Graasfstra have a hearing problem; therefore, he uses a microchip implant for hearing aids. Cyborg made thing more versatiles for a person. Graasfstra said “” The tools have simply gotten smaller and less cumbersome to use. “That has always been the trend, and that will continue to be the trend.” This microchip is trendy and easy to use which make him feel not so special or noticeable because of his disability. Another person who is experiencing with cyborg is Neil Harbisson. He has a rare color blindness called achromatopsia therefore he can only see grayscale and no color. After the surgery, he said “My antenna allows me to detect not only colour visible to the human eye, but also beyond. I can sense infrared and ultraviolet light from my camera, but also from cameras owned by friends across the world who send information to it. In future I will receive signals from satellites and hear light from objects in space. My mission is to expand my sensory perception and communicate this to my audience through multimedia demonstrations.” Being a cyborg make Harbisson feel like he has superpower.
