Is College Worth the Cost? At some point in the life of nearly every American there is a choice to be made about whether or not college is worth the time and money. More and more people are beginning to question if college really is worth the cost due to record levels of unemployment for college graduates. Personally, I believe that the amount of time and money spent on a college education is worth it and has great returns that are not only measured in monetary value. If people decide that college is not worth the cost who will be the leaders in our world? It concerns me that potential future doctors, lawyers, politicians, scientists working on cures for diseases such as cancer, and other possible leaders of the world might not fulfil their potential simply due to the fact that they think college is not worth the cost. As a society we need to keep a high value on college to continue developing. The college education not only develops our nation as a whole but helps the individual by means of knowledge and high paying jobs.

However, if it is in any way possible for a student to go to college and continue their education, undoubtedly, they should. The average college student makes more money yearly than the average student with a high school diploma. Eventually, the student who graduated college will erase the debt accumulated from college and be better off financially than the student who graduated high school only. However, college is not only about making money. It encourages the continued development of students so that they can grow not only intellectually but also socially. The friends and memories made in college are priceless. Also, a person with a college diploma will also be able to choose the career that interests them and makes them the happiest for the large portion of their life that requires them to
