Because of the insane cost of college, families will refrain from using a significant amount of their income in order to save for college or are forced to take out loans that will devastate them for years after. As I mentioned before the average tuition for a in state four year college is $9,139 although to some people that may not sound like much, for others it means having to get student loans to try and help with causes some people having to try and pay it off even after they have graduated that college. But for people who would like to just go to an out-of-state college, Harvard for example the average tuition for that is $22,958.
