Everest is very strenuous and time consuming. I recently watched a short documentary about a few climbers who attempted the summit a few weeks ago. In this I saw a few climbers reach the top with minimal, exasperated, and anticlimactic celebration. While the other climbers worked for many months just to climb up the mountain, get horribly sick, and have to turn back mere yards from the summit. This is a big part of why I think mountain climbing isn’t worth it. There is no enjoyment in preparing for a long period of time to complete a task only to turn back before accomplishing that goal. The humiliation and disappointment alone would be extreme for any one person. Even if I were to make it to the top of Everest, I guarantee that I would be too cold, tired, and deprived of oxygen to care about anything other than getting back
