Is Censorship Wrong

In recent years, censorship of the internet has been all over the mass media. Censorship is the suppression of publishing or gain access to information anywhere. Censorship of the internet is to limit what people post, watch, and read online. Many people are against censorship because they are being restricted their individual liberties. There have been numerous attempts to censor the internet in the United States. The first amendment is gives people individual rights. This amendment gives the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government. Therefore, if censorship were legal it would be violating our first amendment rights as citizens of the United States. I believe censorship is wrong and it is unconstitutional.
Social media is an outlet where people go to express their ideas and emotions. Social media is one of the main ways people receive and give out information to one another. It has introduced a completely new way of interacting, expressing ideas and views on several of topics. Today’s technology lets social media be used on a daily basis. Even individuals will sometimes self-censor themselves because what they might post online can lead to backlash or get in trouble for what they post. This one of the many reasons that censorship is a rising concern is because of the content found on the Internet that could possibly be used to attack and bully individuals, or endorse violence. The government believes that they should be able to remove and censor any content found in the Internet that they feel is not in the public’s best interest or anything that they feel may be offensive to other
