Once again, Beowulf had acted upon his pride and thirst for fame. “ And Beowulf uttered his final boast: I’ve never known fear, as a youth, I fought in endless battle, I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, if the dragon hiding in his tower, dares to face me” ( Beowulf, 625). He had concluded on fighting the dragon, though he was old. Sadly, when Beowulf was losing in the battle, all his men had failed him and ran away. But only one soldier had stayed, and his name was Higlac. “ A beaten warrior. Not only that, but each battle showed how skillful but prideful Beowulf was. Beowulf was a noble man, but his pride, caused his death. Other than that, my preference on Beowulf is that he is strong, intelligent, and courageous; which, bring him triumph in his battles. In every battle that Beowulf enters, he uses his intelligence in the battle, which is why he is able to defeat the monsters he is up against. For Grendel, Beowulf was able to use his bare hands, because he knew that he had enough strength in his arms.
