Atticus is wrong in defending Tom Robinson because his kids are getting made fun of. Scout is getting made fun of because her dad is defending a black man. Because of that she gets into fights and gets into trouble. Atticus knew their family would go the different obstacles but he also knew he would get his kids used to the real life. While Scout is at school she gets mad when they say “He had an ounce in the schoolyard the day before that Scout Finch's daddy offended niggers. I denied it, but told Jem.”(Lee, 99). Scout gets humiliated by most of the kids in the school. She had promised her father she wouldn't get in any more fights so she controls herself.
