When you think of a hero, it’s probably something along the lines of fighting crime and catching the bad guys; but Atticus Finch can be considered a different kind of hero. Atticus is a role model and someone who stands up for others. As time goes on, Atticus’s heroicness has slowly disappeared due to how societies standards have changed; we as a society have slowly developed over time. During the time period, Atticus could be looked at as influential and courageous; he is still considered these titles but they have changed since the book was released. Atticus is and always has been a hero, but based on the perspective of the reader and the time period, that can change. He is a double-edged sword, he is Superman but his kryptonite is

In my reflection of reading these two stories, I viewed one as an innocent example and the other as a wake up call to reality.
