Scott Adams once said, “Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” Throughout the life of mankind, there’s always been a form of some type of art. In the beginning, cave men and ancient Egyptians drew hieroglyphics to tell stories and important events. In ancient Greece, when the Western Expansion started, they would use dram to spread the beliefs of Christianity, which is one of the largest populated religion today. Many Native American tribes would do tribal dances as a way of life, and would perform chants believing that it would please the gods. During Shakespeare’s time, he would use the theatre to give an important, but dangerous message that shows the changes of society. Not saying that if a student doesn’t do dance, band, choir, or any kind of art, won’t be making any friends, but doing them helps them make them a little easier. From a personal experience, I remember the first days of high school, and being so nervous to make new friends. I wasn’t sure how I was going to fit in, but thanks to marching band and symphonic band, I made friends with the upper classmen and it made high school a lot easier. Not only does band help people make friends, but in cases like dance, it builds a type of unity most people don’t even realize. In marching band, it is always important that performers are in step and together, but in dancing it is important that everyone is together completely. Everyone has to have the same expression in their arms, bodies, faces, everything, and in order for people to do that really well they have to be pretty close with one another. It doesn’t matter if you’re in an art or a sport, chemistry is a big help for a group success. Other than making friends, there’s a bigger benefit for those who perform
