Is America Really Free Essay

Just because we live in America are we free? No we might have more rights than most countries but that doesn't necessarily make us free. Yes we are more free than other countries but we are not totally free. I don't believe we are free due to all the restrictions that the government has put on us and what they have done. Ever since 9/11 happened we have started to be less free and have more restrictions on what we say and what we do. For example we have to go through so much security just to get on a plane to just fly a couple thousand miles. While more terrorist attacks and killings happen our freedom changes and we don't have as many rights. America has reduced civil liberties since 9/11. The most recent example of how our freedom is gradually decreasing is “the National Defence Authorization Act”. This new act allows for the indefinite detention of citizens. This is also the reduction of individual rights. The U.S. government has taken so much of our rights away. The government has started using drones and other methods to spy on U.S. citizens. Drones have been used overseas to spy terrorists or other militaries. Would you like to have your government being able to spy on you and you have no clue? Most people would say no that is invasion of their privacy. The biggest problem is most people don't like to be spied on. They want to be able to know that they can go out of the house without having the government looking at them. The government says that they don't use them to spy on everyone it's only if they need to find someone they will easily be able to look on the recording and be able to see there every move.
