What is alchemy? Is it truly just failed science trying to manipulate the elements? Is it more than science? Alchemy, the manipulation of elements to turn them into gold or other perfect metals. Alchemy is not a myth, alchemist were all over the world in the fourth century.Infact by the fourth century astrology, magic, and ritual had begun to gain prominence with alchemy.Many say that alchemy is the mother of modern chemistry and science (Alchemy).Usually only those born from a wealthy family could call themselves and alchemist. Alchemy can be traced all the way back to ancient Greek Hellenistic period even though it diffused from a muslim empire (Straughen). The true birthplace of alchemy was indeed Egypt, although it is very obvious that it spread very quickly around the world. Many painters used alchemy as a resource while others worked with actual alchemist. From the last hundred of years alchemist have only been seen from tv shows, fantasy, fiction, comics, and finally video games (Art). Fortunately, alchemists do not strive anymore. Alchemy is not as common as it used to be, there are no more alchemist, there is no more alchemy. Alchemy still exists but it is not the common use for science. Writing and art still use this failed science as a good plot for a book, a painting, or a video game, but mankind has gone past this into chemistry and philosophy.
Although few games have been made about alchemy, they are quite interesting. The games show your the basics of changing the elements into useful things. Alchemy started in Egypt, just think of how far science has come from then. Man kind has advanced so far, that it is unbelievable. Millions of years ago mankind had just found out about science and alchemy, but now it has grown into things humankind can not
