Argumentative Essay On Parking Places

Is that a Spot over there?! “Com’on, com’on! There’s got to be a spot somewhere!” I have always heard about the crises amongst college parking, but never experienced it until now… and I wish I hadn’t. Looking for a parking spot around UNR’s campus is comparable to a Where’s Waldo? book. Being a college student, I felt that this was one of the last things I should be worried about. However, I still find myself in a repetitive cycle of frustration and vexation looking for parking daily. As I struggle with this ongoing problem, I started to ponder if there were more students who found parking around campus as difficult as I did. Being around the UNR campus most of the day, I started to overhear many students, and also some of my friends, complaining …show more content…
Some might argue that this plan may be subject to faulty online errors. However, the online website is already well consolidated. Despite there might being errors, I would imagine that the university would much rather have easy online fixes, than having a multi million dollar parking garage built, thus having to deal with major fixes. In addition, some students may contest that they experience little to none parking difficulties on campus. Out of about 22,000 students, there are students that do not possess a car and some that do. It is possible that some of these students could havenever heard of or experienced the parking situation around campus. These are the variables that have to come into consideration when debating about putting this plan into use. By acknowledging these possible suggestions made to prevent this issue from escalating any further, the new parking plan has a better chance of resolving the concernment as seen by the students and staff …show more content…
According to the online article, “An answer to UNR parking woes in sight,” Ryan Klekas, an MBA graduate of UNR, created a way to help college students suffering from extreme parking difficulties (Nevada Sagebrush). Klekas created an APP by the name of “Instally,” and is the CEO and Co founder of this APP. This APP allows students to connect with local people that own housing and parking spaces. The students then get in contact with the owner of the parking space and rents out their parking space for a certain fee. When asked why he created the APP his response was,“This at least gives you options to where if you want a space and you 're running late you can pre-book it. I just think it 's really terrible that you can be handicapped by parking to the point where it stresses you out or to the point where it makes [people] reluctant to even come and enjoy the university," (Nevada Sagebrush). As one can see, the parking problem at this University is at a point where students have gone out of their way to not only help themselves, but others as well. This being said, there needs to be changes to the parking crises us students are currently

At school there is a Subway across the street and after school most kids instead of waiting at the sidewalk and getting the signal that is a safe time to walk. Decide to walk onto the street with oncoming traffic. People don’t think about what could happen if you make your timing wrong and now everyone is crying because you're no longer with them. I was coming home from a cheer competition in Anaheim and when we were pulling off the freeway we had seen three kids on their skate boards going across the street, when they weren’t suppose to, and a 17 year old girl, was on her way home and she had a green light, and two kids made it across the street and one did not.…

I believe their was adequate ADA parking, however we needed more ADA decals verifying that placards and registration was checked. In addition toll booths did miss verifying some patrons placards & registration and the patron didn't receive a decal. Numerous times working in Lot 7 & 8 campgrounds I noticed the patrons didn't have the decal and asked them if anyone verified their information and they stated no and explained why it needed to be verified and the patrons were more than happy to let me verify their information and had to go grab decals to give to the patron. I recommend for toll booths that there should be separate ADA only lanes that specialize in verifying the patrons…

Students get hung up on, yelled at or flat out ignored by these drivers hired by the university to come pick students up and get them to where they need to be.
