What is an artist? The definition of an artist is different to everyone. To some, the word artist is taken as its literal meaning: someone who, quite simply, practices a creative profession. Others see it as a person who uses their creative energy and unleashes it for others to enjoy. To me, the true artist is someone who is able to control their creativity and use it to contribute to the greater good. Whether it be in film, writing, music, or theatre, an artist should be able to invoke feelings in someone in order to inspire change for something better. I truly believe that I can contribute to the Irvington Arts Magnet Community. A community, especially in arts, should foster a good sense of teamwork. Artists should be able to support each other, and provide resources to those who require it. There is no point in creating something beautiful if it does not help anyone. Whether it inspire someone to create their own piece of art, or simply to surface emotions, any piece of art should have an effect. I believe that I will be able to create and display my own type of art in order to create this type of effect. …show more content…
However, I see myself specializing in two main areas: drama and music. Ever since I was six, I have expressed a deep interest in acting and singing/songwriting. My passion for acting was invoked by the pretend games that my friends and I used to play. Through that, my interest blossomed and I began acting. I believe that I can participate in a community of actors and stage technicians to help bring each other up and improve our skills in this area of the arts.
