Today, teachers are blamed for the usage of technology instead of books. They tend to put homework online and use smart boards, so there is no need for books anymore. In contrast, they let their students search online all the time for what they need, whether it is inside or outside of the classroom. We are being shifted away from such programs and that is what the problem is. Consequently, that specific shift is responsible for the neglects that are occurring in society today. “While every kind of narrow specialism is having a field day, the generous disciplines of the mind, philosophy, art, literature, are being discarded like old running-shoes”(Layton 145). This statement justifies that students need to value certain programs for the better in society. ‘Running-shoes’ helps push people to a certain destination if they push themselves, which is how being taught affects society today.
