“The Road Not Taken” is such an ironic poem. It has a certain form and meaning to it which also represents penitence and the distress of choosing wrongly. The speaker is compelled to make a choice, but as he makes the choice he knows he will second guess the path that he never took. The speaker wonders how he could ever know if that would’ve been a better option or not. The speaker questions his future of what is irreversibly lost. Ironically enough, on the other side, he is content knowing that there is actually no right choice due to the fact that both paths are equivalently imperative. The author also illuminates that the feeling of remorse doesn’t pass so much through having taken the wrong road but rather the tense moments of decision
