Cruel, unfair and depressing. Yet holding bundles of meaning. Animal Farm: A Fairy Story by George Orwell is one allegorical novella that I will remember for the rest of my life. In this political satire, Orwell elegantly uses simple language to tell a tale of a seemingly regular farm that is thrown into turmoil when the animals revolt against their masters, sick and tired of being mistreated. Anything but a fairy tale, the plot of animal farm is based on the Russian Revolution in the 1900s and Stalin and the Russian Intelligentsia’s abuse of power, although, it also offers legitimate truths about all of humanity. He tells the animals that honest sacrifices would have to be made by every animal. But once the windmill was complete, the luxuries would be plentiful. The animals love the idea and Snowball begins to prepare a blueprint. However, throughout the designing process, Napoleon remains skeptical and provides no help of any sort, in fact even disrupting important meetings and destroying pertinent blueprints at times. He makes it very clear to the animals that he opposes the idea of the windmill which does scare a few of the animals. In retaliation, Snowball would simply use his skill in public speaking to convince the animals that he was right. The tension between the two pigs kept increasing and one day, Napoleon decided that he had had enough. During one of Snowball’s speeches in which he, so persuasively, explains to the animals why the windmill is necessary, Napoleon calls out his group of dogs and chases Snowball out of the farm and declares himself the sole leader of Animal Farm, leaving all the animals in the barn in
