Luke Weiner I’m Alice Paul and I concur that the following film Iron Jawed Angels does an exceptional job displaying events that happened in history. The film goes in chronological order and shows an accurate representation of what went on during this time; however there are some minor discrepancies in the movie that did not actually occur. Scenes in the movie such as the picketing of the White House and the imprisonment of the women were depicted quite well.
In the movie there is a love story between myself and Ben Weissman. I can assure you that Ben Weissman is not a real person and that his character was added into the movie in order to provide the necessary love story that persists in Hollywood films. This romance or any romance for that matter never took place, in fact, I was so committed to my work and cause that there was no time for a love life.

Through the beginning of the 20th century with some exceptions, women had no political rights. A woman’s role in society was in the home serving her husband, doing housework and tending to the children. The movie shows this between the characters Emily Leighton and Senator Thomas Leighton very well.
The movie depicts the picketing of the White House very accurately. Such accuracy that even the signs showed the exact sayings that were displayed in real life. Such Sayings include “Mr. president how long must women wait for liberty” and “Mr. president what will you do for women Suffrage.” The movie also shows the backlash we received for picketing during
