“League of Legends huh..? You want me to describe to you League in just one sentence?” Castro said as he stared at his computer screen, thinking for a few moments. “It’s more than just a game,” he claimed. “It’s a community... It’s a culture… League of Legends is more than just what other people see it as.”
Ervin Castro, an eighteen-year-old freshman college student. He is a very simple guy, in both appearances and preferences. Aside from attending school and doing the stereotypical daily task that every freshman college student endures, he spends most of his day logged onto the real-time strategy game, League of Legends. Most people are aware that he is a gamer of some sort; that he spends a lot of his time playing this game called “League of Legends.” But they never cared enough to truly acknowledge the significance of this “game.” “A lot of people in my life, especially my parents and college acquaintances, mostly viewed League of Legends as

He’s a very simple guy with simple taste. But little did people know, behind his mundane life and that “pointless” video game he plays exists an entire community fueled by one of the most renowned games in the world. That community is the League of Legends. “There’s too many reasons as to why it’s more than just a game. Even though I’m not involved with the other reasons, I know why they’re significant,” said Castro. League of Legends is considered one of the most played games worldwide. With over one-hundred-million concurrent players each month, the game impacts each individual player differently. “The game has a huge fanbase. Millions of people of all types coming together to make this game into one of the greatest games alive,” said Castro. “Certainly, League has let me meet incredible people and it’s helped me get through life, but it also provided me with a community that I belong to,” he said. “I guess you could say, I’m a
