In the modern world, it seems everything are made artificially- no matter it is tangible like buildings or intangible like relationship. People become so indulge in it that more and more of them overlook the beauty of nature- just like Roy Hobbs, the main character of this story. With a huge success in baseball field that late-came, Roy got lost in his just-started career life. He was struggled, until he met Iris Lemon, the woman whose life was who appeared in his life unexpectedly, made a difference.

Representing nature, Iris shows the beauty and imperfect of it in her parts of story. Looking at the ‘imperfect’ part, readers may find she was not a perfectly ideal woman, especially for Roy as she became grandmother when she was just 33. That is something nature does- not every seeds can grow up healthily and have a fruitful life. Her painful experience may lead readers to recall Roy’s one but her personality was way different from him.
