Irene Safran: Holocaust survivorIrene Safran was a Jew that survived the devastating times of the Holocaust. She had 3 younger sisters and two brothers. Her journey to Auschwitz began in May of 1944. Her homeland was annihilated so her and her family were forced to move to a jewish ghetto. They were only able to bring a few belongings. Her family were being relocated, they were brought to a brick factory. They had to stay there for several dayswith hundreds of other jews from the same ghetto. While they were there the guards treated them very bad. Irene Safran says, “The soldiers tortured us there for their personal entertainment.
