Ares, the Greek God of War, was born from his father Zeus and his mother Hera who was disliked by both of them. Ares was opposite of his sister Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom, because he was in love with the blood shed and violence while Athena fought her battles very tactically and with strategy. In the stories Ares was involved in he always faced humiliation and was on the losing side of the Trojans because Aphrodite, his lover and sister, favored that side as well. Even though Aphrodite, the Goddess of love and beauty, was married to Hephaestus and was having an affair with Ares everyone knew they were together. Aphrodite and Ares even had children together. His children with Aphrodite include Deimos, the God of terror and dread, and Phobos, the God of panic and fear, because of this Ares Roman God comparison was Mars. Phobos and Deimos were the moons of Mars to represent fear and terror. Mars was his comparison because of the color the planet gave off, the red color, which represented the color of blood. Blood represented Ares because his love for bloodshed. The only difference between the Greek and Roman god was that Mars was considered more liked and respected in Rome because of the way he acted towards the Romans. …show more content…
In multiple articles it stated that he was always trying to get wars to start. Ares was also considered a coward for always leaving the battles he had created if he had gotten hurt and was accused as being shallow because all he ever mentioned was battle among the Gods and Goddesses. The only two great Olympians that truly liked Ares was Aphrodite and Hades. Hades, The God of the underworld, only liked Ares because of how many fallen warriors he had sent to Hades through all the battles and wars he had
