Pros And Cons Of Voluntary Separation

In the instance of voluntary separation, an employee generally decides that they are wanting to leave the organization by resignation. There are many different reasons why employees voluntarily leave an organization,typically the decision can be based on both personal or professional reasons (Mayhew,2012). An example of a professional reason could include an opportunity for a better position, or better compensation package. Moreover, some of the personal reasons that may influence voluntary separation from an organization can include: retirement, health issues (related to the employee or a member of their personal life), marriage, relocation, and maternity/birth . During an involuntary separation, the decision of termination is made by an organization, and is not the decision of the employee having to leave. An instance where an involuntary separation will occur can include health problems. For instance, terminal illness that impacts the ability to perform job responsibilities. Just …show more content…
The department was part of the bank for 8 years, therefore, there had to be a major consideration on the pros and cons of keeping the department open. One aspect that most likely influenced this decision, was that it was a non revenue producing department. In my opinion, I feel that it is important to have a policy in place, as a way to aid human resources during these types of situations. Policies should be able to create a understanding about the different processes or options available, if an employee is unhappy with their position. A policy should aim to create the best possible outcome for everyone involved in the situation. In addition, policies are meant to communicate the values and expectations for how things are done (Welling, 2016). Furthermore policies help support the consistency of treatment of employees in organizations and keep organizations in compliance with
