Being tolerance is that we try to take a part of something that we don’t agree with but we can accept it. As the quotes tell us that ‘Tolerance is giving the other human being every right you claim for yourself.’ We need to give others the right to say their opinion whether others will agree or disagree with. Tolerance is the ability to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with. Intolerance, on the other hand, is the unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behavior that differ from one’s own. Robert Green Ingersoll once said, “Give to every human being every right that you claim for yourself.” But is that possible? Can we humans reach a point where we respect everybody?…

“Public opinion is a permeating influence, and it exacts obedience to itself; it requires us to drink other men’s thoughts, to speak other men’s words, to follow other men’s habits.” Walter Bagehot. The issue with this is that choosing to be tolerant of certain transgressions by other cultures could lead to many negative outcomes in the world. For example if we chose to be tolerant of Adolf Hitler’s philosophy on Jews, There would likely be no more Jews existing in Europe. Millions and millions more would have been killed than there already happened to be. In cases such as this, it seems that it is almost necessary in some situations that we not be as tolerant of other cultures. If you choose to be completely tolerant of what other cultures do, then you are allowing anything to go.…

my personal favorite story is the story of Star Wars, but not just the movie, the story of how a ragtag team of film makers made an amazing classic still alive today. The story of star wars begins in the California home of George Lucas where he began to capture the romance and adventure that he saw in old movies that he watched as a young boy as well as the heroics of the great Flash Gordon TV series. so george began to write the script for a screenplay that would one day be known as "Star Wars" Before George along with a crew of over 100 men and women could begin this interstellar epic they would need people to play the roles of the characters. The young hero, Luke Skywalker was played by Mark Hamil, a newbie to show business. the mentor and guide of the hero is the old and wise member of a long forgotten order of knights know as the Jedi, his name is Obi-Wan Kenobi played by Sir Alec Guiness.…

Tolerance can be obtained through learning and understanding why someone differs from you, whether that be in beliefs, practices, culture, or opinion and allows the appreciation of diversity and the ability to learn and grow by understanding different view points. Intolerance, on the other hand, is the failure to appreciate and respect the practices, opinions, cultures, and beliefs of others. This results in various amounts of conflicts that could otherwise be avoided.…

Jesus’s parables teach Christians how to live faithfully in the presence of God for the duration of their lives. Through these parables, Christians are taught how to respect, appreciate, and love themselves as well as others. However, the big problem in Christianity is that many people tend to forget about these teachings and commit actions that are against what the parables teach. On the other hand, if authentic parable-based Christianity were to exist, it would be a fully inclusive community that promotes positivity among its members as well as others. Being fully inclusive in a specific group of people will establish a positive mindset and attitude that will carry on to the members of the community.…

Firstly, we have to recognize and welcome cultural differences. That’s one step in the right direction to creating an environment of tolerance and understanding. As a human being, encouraging people to adopt this mindset, to challenge their belief system and to be open-minded enough to hear alternative views. It will open up horizons and make people realize that there isn’t one road to Rome, or an ultimate truth or way of doing things. Secondly, we have to communicate and understand differences.…

To not tolerate is to hate. This is an idea that has become quite popular in our modern day of thinking. If I do not tolerate, it is because I hate or have prejudice. On the opposite side of the spectrum we have that if I love, than I must accept or tolerate every aspect of that person or culture. As tolerance is preached more and more in our western societies, many did not even notice how intolerable of a culture we have become.…
