While on duty, I, Officer J. Daniszewski, was stopped by a concerned citizen on the corner of W. Franklin St. and Newman St. The individual advised me that a female subject, who was at that time walking on Newman St. approaching Jefferson St., walked by him and he noticed she had a "badly busted face." The individual advised that the female subject stated she got hit by a vehicle while she was riding her bicycle, which broke her nose. I made contact with MARY ELIZABETH OLK and ultimately placed her under arrest for Drunk and Disorderly.
CONTACT WITH MARY OLK:
I made contact with OLK on the Newman St. sidewalk, just south of the intersection of Newman St. and Jefferson St. I immediately noticed OLK had a badly indented nose with blood coming from her nostrils, substantial swelling on the bridge of her nose and in the area between her eyes, a swollen bottom lip, and scuffs and scrapes throughout her facial area. Gartland administered a PBT, which resulted in a BAC reading of 0.24%.
MEDICAL ARRIVAL AND TRANSPORT TO HOSPITAL:
EMS arrived and assessed OLK'S facial injuries. As Sgt. Gartland and the medical personnel attempted to escort OLK to the ambulance, she began resisting. Sgt. Gartland was able to escort OLK to the ambulance without further incident. EMS transported OLK to Tawas St. Joseph Hospital for further medical assessments.
ARREST AND TRANSPORT:
I placed OLK under arrest for Drunk and Disorderly in the parking lot of Tawas St. Joseph Hospital. I cuffed OLK behind the back, double locked the cuffs after checking for spacing, searched OLK, and placed her in the back seat of my patrol unit. OLK was transported to the Iosco County Jail where was lodged by corrections without incident.
