Individuals who are self-motivated seem to be very passionate in whatever they to do. Some employees are motivated solely by money; if you dangle the promise of a raise or bonus, they are likely to work harder. Other people prefer recognition among their peers, so recognising their successes at a staff luncheon or sending out a recognition email to their staff could keep those employees working at full steam. Other individuals are self-motivated and able to work hard for the personal satisfaction they receive when they finish tasks or projects on time.

Curiosity is a way of acknowledging that you do not know everything and are open to learn new things or how to do tasks differently. Curiosity can inspire creativity and most importantly compassion, for example individuals are not curious about things they know, its human nature to be curious about things that are not familiar to you and that will inspire you to explore a subject that you know nothing about and in turn you can bring this new learned subject back to your workplace and this can impact your effectiveness at work
Work Ethic
Employees with a strong work ethic classify their jobs as high priority. Some employees might perform effectively, but without passion or any indication they are at work for more than a pay check. Other teams might work late to get projects done early and take the inventiveness to suggest new projects or more resourceful production systems. People with a weak work ethic often require supervision and understanding to keep them focused on their work, while people with a strong work ethic typically work well with minimum supervision.

Motivation is important for business because if an employee is not motivated, this might lead to an increase in absenteeism or even lower rates of labour One of the earliest theories of motivation was the theory of human relation management put forward by Elton Mayo (1930).
