A non-obese diabetic mouse is used as a model to study diabetes, which was created by researchers of Japan through selective breeding of laboratory mouse, that had diabetes type 1 symptoms resembling to humans. Metformin is taken as an anti-diabetic drug for the treatment of diabetic type 2 people, which also proved its sugar-lowering action in rabbits. Along with medicines and gene therapies, insulin injections are also being used to control diabetes and have safeguarded millions of lives from dying.
