Voyages, invasion, and a few years to let it all play out. That was essentially all that was needed for the growth of Spain in the Americas. During the time period from 1492 through 1532, Spain had discharged a few notable people with a few expeditions. Aside from the voyages, we still know that with claiming a land you must take it over by force, only if it's occupied of course; therefore, we should also look at the battles it took to conquer the colonies already there. With the demise of the Aztec's and Mexica's. We mustn't forget that this all happens after one-third of Europe's population faced desolation during the time of the Black Death, which was also known as the Bubonic Plague.

Magellen left Portugal to seek his chance to venture. In 1518, Magellan left Spain and arrived in Portugal. A year later in 1519, Magellan with help from King Charles I of Spain to fund his voyage. (Dr. Kaz, Spain and Portugal, 02-13-17) The Spice Islands offered Magellan just that, spices. Valuable spices that were to be highly profitable in Spain, which made the voyage greater in the end. Magellan didn’t claim the land for his home Portugal, but in surprise, he claimed it on behalf of Spain. (Dr. Kaz, Spain and Portugal, 02-13-17)
Meanwhile, Hernan Cortes lead an extensive group of "private adventures called the Conquistadores" (Dr. Kaz, Spain and Portugal, 02-13-17). The Conquistadores were brought into North and South America under Spanish dominion. Along with the men, the Conquistadores brought vast amount of firearms and horses. Cortes and the Conquistadores "defeated the Aztecs and captured Tenochtitlan" (Dr. Kaz, Spain and Portugal, 02-13-17) in present day Mexico. There was another group of Conquistadores lead by "Francisco Pizarro in 1532, who diminished the Incas after his journey to Peru". (Dr. Kaz, Spain and Portugal,
