Invasion by coyotes have befallen upon communities across the US, and the number of pet casualties have only increased. University park is being threatened with the same fate……...University Park Animal Control needs to stop the threat of wild coyotes by encouraging citizens not to leave any food outside that stray animals may eat.
There is bloodshed in the community. Although the sightings are relatively low, the problems with coyotes only increase over time. University Park has had a stray cat problem for a while, but now that coyotes have started appearing, our stray cat population has gone down. The coyotes having tasted blood are now hunting other animals, and our pets could be next. Our pets our their targets, and look like a tasty snack to the coyotes. This has happened many times before in other communities. According to an article written by someone in a community that is facing similar problems, “Stories like Scott’s are heard more frequently… as coyotes attack dogs and cats sometimes in broad daylight, experts say” (Hardesty). University Park needs to act as soon as possible to stop coyotes from continuing to invade our homes. Threats like these do not go away by just leaving it alone. Coyotes are intelligent creatures. They are fauna to the land and have lived it for many centuries and they know how to survive. They are our nemesis and will be for the years to come.
