For most students going to class and participating in the days activities are a normal part of life that they do not give a second thought to, but for an introvert it may be the only thing they can think about all day. The idea of public speaking or class participating can be extremely stressful for an introvert student and can even keep them from taking a certain class or being present during a participation day. These type of people can be held back in a class if they are forced into participating because they cannot do it, but on the other side of it, their education can be held back if they are not forced into participating. She says that, “In order to be effective in this world, you must be able to communicate” (Lahey). She feels that in order for a student to succeed in the world in all endeavors that they must first be forced to participate in the classroom. First let me start off by saying that I believe the online discussion forum on the school website is one of the best ways I believe schools have found to encourage participation, but I believe it can be improved upon. While many students do find the discussion beneficial to classroom learns, others feel it is something they are forced into so they do the minimum and get nothing from the experience So one way to get the students more involved in class is that have them do online voice discussion. Classroom discussions are emboldened because teachers want to bring out the students unique thoughts and share them with each other. This is a similar task in business meetings, business men usually sit around a desk in a conference room and discuss on way to improve their companies and products. To me, technology is one of the most important tools an effective teacher can use in the classroom to address different learning styles, to create a productive learning environment, and to increase student motivation. I request to teach half of my semester in our language laboratory, because this is the best way to have a multimedia room for classes. At present I am teaching a computer based course (hybrid course), the website for my Spanish class is Vista HL, that enables students to participate in a very interactive Spanish class, to watch grammar and vocabulary tutorials, to complete individually their assigned task, to post videos and pictures about different class topics and collaborate with their peers in common…

The power of introverts In this video, Susan Cain talks about how in a world of extroverts, even introverts bring the extraordinary talents and changes to the community. Cain talks about some of the leaders of the history such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks, and Gandhi, who described themselves as shy and soft-spoken, but brought great changes to the society. Furthermore, Cain focuses on encouraging the introverts rather than just telling them to transform themselves into an extrovert. Cain discusses how solitude is often important for creativity and how for some people it is an important ingredient of their life.…

Although, Susan Cain helps me realize that it’s alright to be quiet and reserved, but she also helped me realize that maybe it isn’t such a bad idea to learn to communicate my thoughts and feelings a little more with the people around me. I would recommend this book to anyone who struggles with being an introvert or even an extrovert. It is a marvelous read filled with extremely thorough research. Not only, is it a good read, and at times a little hard to push through, but it can help show you that it’s alright being who you are, introvert or…

Class participation is not just constructing speeches and presenting them. It also requires coming in to class on days that you don’t have to present. Supporting classmates with just being present and being interested in their speeches, because we know we want everyone else to do the same for us. Also, helping and supporting each other is another definition for class participation. Coming into class on days we don’t want to, or think, “I don’t need to come in to class today.…

This talk was presented by Susan Cain, a writer, author, and lecturer, about how society misunderstands the role that introverts play in many places (Cain, 2012). Cain begins her talk with a background story in which she was forced to take upon the identity of an extrovert at summer camp and how she was … …… about embracing her introvert self. She was given the message that her quiet and introverted style of being was not the right way to go and that she should try to pass as more of an extrovert (Cain, 2012). In The New York Times article ‘An introvert steps out’, she tells her story of how a typical introverted writer delivered the rousing speech. Accordingly, I would like to help more people better understand about introverted people who roughly take up one third of the population and find out their own advantages, ultimately for the benefit of both the introverts and extroverts, and for the harmonious society. First of all, there should be an explanation on what is exactly ‘introvert’ and ‘extrovert.’ According to Susan Cain, an introvert does not always mean being ‘shy.’…

She suggests one of the actions that parents should take to help a shy child is to work with him. She reminds us that introverts react to new people as well as to new events and places. So, we should not mistake children’s caution in new situations for an inability to relate closely with others. She suggests that when children, like Ethan, do not want to play with others and prefer to stay alone, they are recoiling from overstimulation, and of course, not from human…

Normally, I have a class discussion about what my students already know, with technology and these websites, we can put a visual to our discussion. First I can see what percentage of my students are familiar with the topic by giving them a few question to answer (via Quizlet or other website) and then we can brainstorm what we know about the topic using websites such as Padlet, PollEverywhere, or Visuwords. After we take the notes, I could also have some volunteer to upload their notes to our class website for absent students to access. The second thing I would change is how my students do their homework. Right now, students do their homework in a notebook using a hard copy textbook or the online textbook.…

Such examples of how the online method lacks prove that it’s a serious issue today. It isn’t unheard of that students cheat on tests and quizzes taken online; tests and quizzes are stricter in the traditional class and more formal. Interaction is much easier in a traditional class: students can raise hands, ask questions and receive feedback more effectively as well as share thoughts with classmates. Alleyne (n.d.) agrees, “These types of interactions humanize the educational experience in a way that online learning does not.” Face to face conversations give a better understanding to student than online videos.…
