I recently participated in a college course, Introduction to Psychology, at Misericordia University this past year. Taking this course has taught me to expand my comfort zone by interacting with students whom I would not normally associate with, and consider various ideas and opinions from other individuals. During my stay at Misericordia University, there were times I had missed a few classes and unfortunately fell behind. Thankfully, my professor and classmates were more than happy to assist by sending the information I missed and explaining the details I did not understand. Their assistance was extremely beneficial on my …show more content…
During these studies, we were randomly formed into groups by the professor and had to answer a set of questions that were related to the chapters that would be on the test we would be taking shortly. Whichever group completed the assessment and answered all of the items correctly would receive bonus points on the test. Each group was considered a team, so every individual had to agree so that our final answers would be unanimous. If someone chose a different answer, the group would listen to their reasoning and consider their perspective. However, our final decision was based on the answer that that proved most logical to everyone. Communication is vital in every area of life, and this activity taught us the importance of teamwork and listening to the perspectives of others. Overall, Introduction to Psychology, allowed me to meet new people, improve my communication skills, and further my understanding of various concepts and topics that I have not considered learning about in the

In the beginning of second semester I was being introduced into Psychology 101 which I had no idea on what this course will be teaching. As I just know the word “PSY” it would be mentioning about physical or something to do with the body. Then, doing some research about what Psychology will be teaching about from YouTube. Also, reading some articles from this website on what they will be mentioning about what the body will reacts to some situations. In the past months as learning about the basic about Psychology 101 this would be an advantage in taking the next step of becoming a police officer which I could use it to think like a victim and mange an issue or situation into peace that everything could be resolved in a matter of a way.…

Before this course, I did not know grammar well, and what I did know I did not fully understand. Yet, due to taking the course, I learned more about the structure of the English language, and can use grammar better than I did before. For instance, the first three major assignments were filled with missing comas, verb-tense misuses, and run-on sentences. Now, I may still make mistakes, but I know why I have made them. In other English courses, I had grammar homework and reading assignments that, often, seemed to be busy work, but with this course, I did not think that was the case.…

It feels like so long ago when I first began this English course. I can remember being so excited about the class topic, racism and social justice, which I felt that I had a lot of passion for. Little did I know that I would have to gather up even more enthusiasm and passion to be able to continue writing papers about the same topic all semester long. This course has tested my endurance, and at many times my patience, and for that I am thankful because I know in the end, it has made me a better writer. Despite various minor challenges this semester I believe that I have put in the hard work that it takes and I have achieved the course goals and will complete this class feeling fulfilled and accomplished.…

An area of Applied Psychology 1 that has captured my interest is the field of educational psychology. This field of study is interested with children and young adults in educational and early years’ settings (British Psychology Society (BPS), 2016). This has captured my interest as children are especially vulnerable during school years, due to a variety of reasons such as low self esteem. This could be due to learning difficulties such as dyslexia and behaviourial problems. I believe that I would find it rewarding to work with children to help them develop their own skills and abilities in regards to the obstacles shown early in their life.…
