One of the things that I have learned throughout the class is that as a teacher it’s important to understand that all children have different types of motivation. As a future teacher I want to be able to education my student based off of their intrinsic motivation to learn rather than their extrinsic motivation to learn. For instance, in class we learned that if a child is intrinsically motivated to read and then you add in an extrinsic motivator to read the reading will go up as long as the motivator is present but after the motivation is gone the student’s normal intrinsic motivation to read is down. As a future teacher I want to be conscious of this and try my best to not lower any student’s natural intrinsic motivation to do anything. On
