It is clear that this movie did not give the same exhilarating thrill that the novel gave.
This film lacked the necessary production level that it should have had. Although the story was missing key features, it could have been shadowed by high production levels to mask what was excluded. A movie about Mount Everest should include some of the best cinematography as the storyline offered opportunities to wow the audience with simply the setting. The author of the book Into Thin Air was quoted saying “It’s total bull” when asked what he thinks about the movie, and how well it did at matching his novel. He does not feel the creators of this movie matched the greatness of this story. The movie did a good job of picking the right actors for each role, as the way each character was described in the book, corresponds to how each character acted in the movie. The directors tried to follow the same script as the book, but much like many movie adaptations of books, many important things were cut, and a lot of what made the book interesting, was taken out.
