The play, Into the Woods, begins with each character expressing what their goals are. Cinderella wants to attend the King’s festival, Jack wishes for his cow, Milky-White, to give milk, The Baker and his Wife wish to conceive a child, and Little Red wishes to go to Granny’s house. Cinderella’s Stepsisters don’t want Cinderella to attend the ball and Jack’s Mother insists that Jack has to sell his pet cow. The Baker and his Wife are visited by Little Red, who buys bread to bring to her ill Granny in the woods. Then, the Witch stops by to inform the Baker and his Wife that they are unable to have children because of the curse the Baker’s dad brought on when he stole the beans from the Witch a long time ago. The only way to lift the curse is to obtain four items for her: “The cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold.” The Baker and his Wife have to explore the woods to find the items. …show more content…

Little Red arrives at her Granny’s house and finds her Granny was eaten by the Wolf that Little Red ran into in the woods and then she gets devoured too. The Baker followed Little Red and saves the Granny and her and is rewarded from Little Red with her “red as blood” cape. Jack’s mother tosses the magic beans away, which grows into a giant beanstalk. He eventually hacked down the beanstalk causing the Giant’s

This passage from Last Child in the Woods written in 2008 by Richard Louv, explores the relationship between people and nature with the growing influence of technology on society. Louv attempts to inform his audience, primarily older parents, about a growing divide between new generations and the natural world, through questioning why “so many people no longer consider the physical world worth watching.” Louv uses examples and appeals to the logic and emotion of the reader in order to get his point across. Louv begins the passage very intentionally with an example of an experiment where genetic technology is used to change the colors that appear on a butterfly’s wings. By beginning with this example, Louv appeals to the logic of the reader…

The last time she leaves behind a golden shoe on the staircase the Prince had covered with pitch. When the Prince brings the shoe around looking for his true bride, as only the woman whose foot fits into the slipper can be his true bride, the evil stepsisters both cut off a part of their foot in an attempt to fool the Prince and in the end neither sister was truly his bride. When passing birds, which had helped Cinderella with the tasks her stepmother had given her to prevent her from going to the ball and also presented her with the wardrobe each night she went to the ball, also informed the prince each time he passed with one of the step-sisters that they had a bloody foot in the slipper and each time he took them back. At last he asks the stepmother if she has any other daughter and she says no, but the father mentions Cinderella and even refers to her as “a little stunted kitchen-wench my late wife left behind her, but she cannot possibly be the bride.” The prince insists she try on the shoe, which fit of course.…

Further, I analyzed that sexism in the narrative, especially in the scene where she was with the dwarfs and the only way that she could be accommodated, she was to serve them, cook for them, clean, sweep and wash to keep the cottage tidy. This is portraying that the roles of women are clean while the dwarfs symbolizing men go out to do menial jobs. Additionally, the plot of The Little Snow-White is straightforward, and it narrates a story where the beauty of the Little Snow-White attracts envy and hatred from her own stepmother, that almost caused her death. The beautiful queen with a heart as dark as the bats of the night ordered a huntsman to kill the innocent seven-year- old princess. The narrative was told from the point of view of an omniscient narrator that gives the reader the opportunity to share in the struggle of the little princess.…

The author highlights the hunger of the wolf as the central anxiety of the tale, as the story comes to an end when the wolf finally devours Little Red Riding Hood mercilessly. In addition, Brothers Grimm emphasizes the old woman’s craving for the flesh of children. The author uncovers, “She had built the little house of bread just to lure them inside. As soon as a child was in her power, she killed it, cooked it, and ate it. That was a real feast day for her” (Brothers Grimm 188).…
