Into The Wild Film Analysis

The last five minutes of the film made the most impression on me. Here I saw how the lives of the people he met were. Many of them seemed happy, whereas in the same moment Chris McCandless was dying. I also saw the impact Chris’s disappearance had on his father, which you do not really see much in the rest of the film. However, what really stuck a chord with me was when in his last dying breaths, Chris McCandless wrote “happiness is only real when shared.” This made an impression on me, because it showed that Chris had put everything in perspective, but it was unfortunate as he was on his deathbed.

I really enjoyed this film. The cinematography was a factor to my enjoyment. I admired how beautifully the Alaskan landscape was filmed. I also enjoyed that the film was not filmed in a chronological order, but went back and forth in time. I found I enjoyed this because it made the film more interesting by not having all the information given to the viewer right away. The more you watched the film, the more you could understand why Chris chose to go on his journey by seeing how his former life was.

"Wanted" is basically from a comic book that has limited series written by Mark Miller and J.G Jones, it is about an amoral protagonist (Wesley Gibson) who is discovered as the heir of super assassin. Russian director, Timur Bekmambetov, he is the cream of the crop, he turns this comic into a movie that make the viewers not sit still and make their adrenaline and cortisone levels spike with the actions. Bekmambetov used the similar style of shots and angles with his previous movie, Night watch. It's more to wide angle (long shot), so we can see the terrifying background like one of the scenes in the torture room, where Wes has been beaten up by the butcher. Not even that, there are many special effects that Bekmambetov applies in this movie, like slow-motion with sound effects that certainly provides that "ouch" reaction from audiences.…

In the movie he is shown as a rebellious hippy boy running away from family problems. This is best shown in two scenes, one where he is alone and Alaska pretending to be a bus driver, as he talks to himself on a broken down bus; a scene which is created for comedic effect in the movie, you realize that this isn't the same Christopher McCandless described in the book. This is the movie version of Christopher McCandless For me these differences to Christophers persona, stray to far from the book and heavily alter your perception of the entire story. The movie plays too heavily on the fact that Christopher had issues with his parents and didn't always see eye to eye with them.…

This alone says a lot about the friendships he made especially with Jan. I feel like by the end of his journey he cared more for the people he met along the way than he did his parents. While watching Beast of the Southern Wild I realized when people are secluded from the majority of society they establish their own norms. This makes room for secluded populations to easily disregard any societal standards that conflicts with their own, which can also stem from lack of knowledge. Therefore, when outsiders attempt to invade their space, for any reason, it is natural for them to behave in a hostile manner. Initially, I was under the impression that Hushpuppy, the main little girl in the film, and Wink, Hushpuppy’s father, live in a third world country due ethnocentrism. I could not come to terms with the idea of American citizens living in extreme impoverished conditions.…

I could feel the connectedness of the characters in every unfolding event throughout the story and how all of them were affected by the choices Chris made in his reckless, foreboding odysseys. The author reveal the story with great details and even stated the spoken words of the characters. This in return, made me feel the weight of every sentence and how the people that were involved must have felt like knowing that they could not help Chris in his last dying moments. Near the end of the story, I was imagining how the people that love Chris all their lives or just for the short moments with him reacted when they were struck by the shear devastating news of Chris’s death. I suppose the author have cleverly written the story to the point that I could relate in a personal level to the characters in the…
