In the book Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer and the movie Sean Penn, Chris McCandless also known as Alexander Supertramp is a young man who abandons all he knows to go to the Alaskan wilderness to find out who he is and the meaning of life.He came from a wealthy family but he grew up with his parents constantly fighting while he was growing up.He graduated college and instead of getting ready to settle down and taking his place in society he gave up everything and went on this journey to find self and meaning of life.Chris McCandless left society in order to find his answers he could only do this with isolation when he was truely free.He had to go into nature and leave society to become free.To quote Anthony Strorr “ creativite attitude and the ability to have peak experiences depends upon being free of other people ; free, expecially from neurotic invelopments, from ‘historuic hangovers fron childhood,’ but also free of obligations, duties, fears, and hopes.’’ People in society should look up to his as an inspiration and have their own journey to find self and meaning in life. It is essential to do this so you can be creative and find the answers you have been looking for in life. Chris McCandless gave up all his materialistic possessions when he went to pursuit his journey.

He donated all his money, and also abandoned his car and family. Some people think that was crazy but i think it was necessary to help free his mind from worries and care.If he had left those things behide he might get worried so he just simply got rid of them.By doing this he was starting to free him self from obligations and duties.Chris McCandless didn’t want to be worried about consinquences and the effect of his actions.He wanted to live and be stress free and happy. In order for Chris McCandless to find his answers and be free he had to leave society and be isolated.Society has a certain expectation for the way people are suppost to be and act.To find his self he had to be free from the restraints that people and society had on him.Many great philosophers, and physicist explain the importance of isolation and how it play a a great factor on their creative genius.When you are isolated to don’t have to worry about the way you act or look you can be yourself.When McCandless is in nature he feels liberated.I think it was on important factor that he needed to figure out himself and life. Even though Chris McCandless wasn’t able to survive in the Alaskan wilderness and ended up meeting his fate his life was not wasted without reason.He had to leave society to see what it really means.
