Like all messages or themes in a book, novel, TV show, or movie, it is subjective to everyone. Every single person who reads The Call of the Wild will get a different message from it and they may even disagree with other themes. A portion of the people who read this novel will stand up and say no, failure is not the only way to succeed. Most of the times, succeeding in life occurs on the first try. The failure didn’t happen first, so how could anyone learn from it. Certainly, no man or dog or any animal is perfect at one particular skill right from the moment one is born.
Buck was born into a regular home life, but he wasn’t fit for king right when he was born. He must have failed at some encounter with all the bugs, so he learned from that failure and became a king. “...for he was king-king over all creeping, crawling, flying things of Judge Miller’s place, humans included,”(London 3). Something must have happened to Buck for him to do such a thing not only to bugs but to humans
