Christopher McCandless was an outgoing young man who had and still currently does inspire a lot of people around the world. He had made a name of himself showing us what life is really like and how we should live it. We don't need to be rich to be happy, God gave us nature one of the most beautiful creations other than man and women. Christopher wanted to be away from the world he wanted to live life in a peaceful area so he can think and write. In the movie “ Into The Wild” and in the book “ Death of an Innocent” they all can really relate to one thing and that is the gift of the magic bus that Christopher was blessed with as a home or most will say a gift from nature. McCandless should be admired for his bravery, his gift to the world, he gave us a jump start to seeking a life filled with happiness our journey starts just out our doors. Most in this world will say Christopher McCandless was a fool for what he did that it was a waste of his life or that there was other ways to make an impact or to be happy. I believe that if he was more prepared than he will be alive to this very day. If Christopher never died the way he did, he wouldn't have made the impact. By him dying in the woods in the nature in peace it really wakes people up and shows them that he was serious. Christopher McCandless was a very smart man he wasn't homeless, he wasn't poor his family was very wealthy. People would consider him a fool by taking all his knowledge and not using it to his full potential he didn't care about getting a career he wanted to live to his full potential not sit in a office and stare at a computer all

Throughout Krakauers story there are lots of people that were influence by Chris McCandless. I would say adventurous people were influenced by this book because one example in specific comes to mind when Krakauer states, “A year and a week after Chris McCandless decided not to attempt to cross the Teklanika River, I stand on the opposite bank the eastern side, the highway side – and gaze into the churning water. I, too, hope to cross the river. I want to visit the bus. I want to see where McCandless died, to better understand why.”…

Compare/Contrast Essay Christopher McCandless had a story that has now been shared with more people than what he would’ve imagined! Along with McCandless’s story having an impact on many, Adam Shepard’s story has also made an impact and has proved those who thought the American Dream was unattainable wrong. Though both of these individuals are unique in their own ways, McCandless’s story was more admirable and impactful. Adam Shepard was an educated young man who wanted to prove Barbara Ehrenreich wrong for her claiming that the American Dream was unattainable now in days.…

I agree with Krakauer that Christopher McCandless wasn’t a crazy person, a sociopath, or an outcast because he got along with people easily, but he did seem some-what incompetent, even though he managed to survive for over one hundred days in the wild. McCandless was the type of person that anyone could relate to. The author, Jon Krakauer describes the final years of the boy. Krakauer reveals the untold truth about McCandless. Several decisions, conversations, logical thinking, and thrill of excitement prove the sincere down to earth person people know as Christopher McCandless.…

In Jon Krakauer’s Into The Wild, Christopher McCandless, prior to embarking in his Alaskan Odyssey, writes a letter to his aged friend, Ron Franz, stating his stance on human relationships: “You are wrong if you think Joy emanates only or principally from human relationships … you do not need me or anyone else around to bring this kind of light into your life.” (57) McCandless further explains that the dependence on others to be happy is unnecessary, as one can be perfectly content on his own, once he finds beauty in nature and life experiences. I partially agree with this argument, as I value the balance between self-reliance and human relationships; By spending time alone, I become more appreciative of time spent with others. Last summer,…

He wanted to break away from the comforts of his home and experience life completely unfiltered, “So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservation, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality, nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit.” (Into The Wild ). I believe McCandless was idiotic in the sense of the way he approached his journey but McCandless proved his mission successful by demonstrating his independence and survival skills throughout the years, while Shepard did not actually prove Ereichnrights´s point wrong which was the whole point of project.…

“In April 1992, a young man from a well-to-do family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. His name was Christopher Johnson McCandless. He had given $25,000 in savings to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possession, burned all the cash in his wallet, and invented a new life for himself. Four months later, his decomposed body was found by a moose hunter.” Although Christopher McCandless had a fairly wealthy family that pushed the importance of education in their household, he was very drawn to a life of adventure and would distance himself from his family’s life of luxury by going on summer long road trips by himself.…

Many people who hear of Christopher’s story think he’s a fool. Who in their right mind would burn all of their money, trash their car, and walk across the country to live in the wilderness? However, this is just the surface of something much deeper, and if you were to read into the facts of Christopher’s life you would see that he is the hero of his story. He had a dream and he risked everything, up to and including his life, to achieve it. Having a bus as shelter helped greatly when he was there but when he wasn’t he was left to the arms of nature and whatever happened either rain or hail he survived. Now to say that he was foolish to stay out there so long may be a statement that some would make but I would bet that Emerson or Thoreau would have been very proud to see him endure the wild. McCandless did take a sudden turn in his life from that of a privileged boy to one who survived on his own with nothing more than little supplies for a month.…

Christopher McCandless, Wayne Westerberg, Gene Rossellini, John Waterman, Carl McCunn, and Everett Ruess. They are all a list of men who broke society’s norm. But what makes them alike and different? Christopher is similar to these men in the sense that some of them were the athletic yet the intelligent type, a few of them desired the nomadic, vagabond lifestyle, and he shares the same inspiration as Ruess by authors such as Jules Verne and Jack London. But are also different in the way that Chris didn’t share the same upbringing as most of the other men.…
