Project Radar: The interesting facts
Project Radar provided numerous pieces of information to educate health care professionals on intimate partner violence. There were two very significant pieces of information included in the project that peaked my interest. As a survivor of IPV, I found it surprising that Project Radar reported those being harmed are not embarrassed to be questioned about being abused or involved in violence. Minimal resources were found for assistance with elder abuse in Sevierville. Adult Protective Services was the only resource I was able to locate within the area. Adult Protective Services is an agency that investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. According to the National Council of Aging 1 in 10 Americans who are 60 years or above have experienced some form of elder abuse at least once. The NCOA also reported nearly 60% of the abuse was delivered by family members. (Elder Abuse Facts, 2018). With astounding statistics as that reported by the NCOA, more time and resources need to be dedicated to this
