Interview With Family Members

Family Member Three
The third member that I interviewed was my mother (Sherrie). She is 61 years old and she is very different than me, but we are still close. I would say that she is opposite of me in many ways, such as she is less sensitive and more boisterous. To me she has always been someone that I trusted, but ironically should not have trusted because she always likes to gossip about everything. She means well, but she has proven many times to be untrustworthy. When doing this interview with my mother, I realized that all my relatives have a similar experience of the family. Also, that even though we know what we know we continue to behave the same way. Not all our behaviors are bad, but there are some I would like to change (seems as though others feel the same

I think it would be more interesting to get more information about my family history and create a bigger one in the future to see if there are similar patterns as you go further and further. It would be nice to see what you can do on a more advanced program, but unfortunately these programs can become very expensive. It would be very interesting to see that software and how creative you could get when making a genogram on it. I also created a powerpoint after making my genogram to include my memorabilia section with pictures of my culture, my childhood, and my family. I thought this would be a good idea for a better understanding of who I am and what I relate to. I like projects such as these where I can add and/or use other media and visuals. I believe that I learn better with visuals so I like to add them when I can to make my projects more interesting and fun. All aspects of this project made me reflect on myself and who I am now because of my family and the things that have happened to me in the past. It also made me think about the things that I want to challenge and face as I move forward in my life

With this project I didn’t feel particularly inspired at this beginning. Forcing myself to just keep shooting, for hours and hours, the same subjects, really pushed me to start directing my camera at scenes and lighting conditions I wouldn’t have thought to shoot before. I think a lot can be learned from when you think you've seen an object, person or place in every way you possibly can and then somehow keep making new photos of it. Really compelling and refreshing work can come out of boredom. When I found myself getting uninterested or feeling like a subject was getting repetitive those were the times where I found myself actually being genuinely, and novelly, creative.…

When I first reviewed the interview assignment, it was frightening to know I was going to be an interviewer. Little did I know I would benefit from this assignment when I interviewed my mother in law Gloria Vigil. Gloria was born in San Luis, Mexico on Aug 20 1955. Gloria’s earliest memory is when she started her journey to America at age 21. Gloria’s family tree starts in Mexico but during the 1920’s her great grandparents moved to the United States in search for a better life and had Gloria’s mother.…

For this interview, I decided to interview my mom Lucia because I feel that out of all my family members she's the one that has gone through the most. My mom came to the U.S for her kids to have a better lifestyle and better education. At the end of the day, she accomplished what she wanted because both my siblings and I have had a great education. However, she also had to give up a lot, for example, leaving her family members behind and having to start a new life in a place where she doesn’t know anybody. Another reason she came to the U.S was because of the money.…

    Kathleen Donahoe Interview

Because of her interest in our family’s history, I decided to interview my older cousin Kathleen Donahoe. Even though she’s young, I thought she would be the biggest help with this project because she would actually enjoy answering my questions and she is very knowledgeable on the subject. I know typically a grandparent is interviewed, however, my grandma and grandpa were not first-generation immigrants from Czechoslovakia or Ireland, so I decided Kathleen would be a better source of information. In general she’s a history buff which is why she has a history degree and works as an archivist for the University of Pittsburgh. She is always going through our grandparent’s attic looking at photos and old letters, and she has done a lot of research into our ancestors.…

Intergenerational Interview Paper Introduction The person that I interviewed was my mother, Catherine Scurlark. I thought I knew everything there was to know about her, but after this interview I feel like I have a much better perception about who she actually is and how the impact of events has shaped her into the woman that she is today. My mom is 50 years of age – according to Erikson’s Stages of Psychosocial Development, that puts her in the middle adulthood (generativity vs. stagnation) category.…

I felt the right approach to interview Alexis was to be myself.…

Even though there were many strengths, there were also limitations to the interview process as well. This was my first family assessment, so I may have appeared nervous at first. Melissa, Scott and Sarah were at home when I came for the interview, so I was able to observe interactions among them; however, Megan wasn’t home at the time so I was unable to observe interactions among her and her family members. When interviewing, I found it difficult to ask questions about death of family members because I feared that this would cause an unexpected emotional response; however, I utilized communication techniques I have learned in the past and Melissa was very responsive and it did not seem to affect her…

Family of Origin Introduction Families are a social system that is governed by rules and power structures, in which members become emotionally connected and interdependent (Collins, Jordan, & Coleman, 2012). Families tend to be the responsible agent in shaping the environment where individuals grow and develop. Each member in the family is different, and each contributes to the functionality of the family in a distinctive way. To be able to understand an individual’s behavior within a family, the family context and environment must be understood (Collins, Jordan, & Coleman, 2012).…
