The teacher I chose to interview is a teacher in which I have substituted for and worked with several times over the past year. Her name is Ms. Bierman who teaches ninth grade Earth Science at Air Academy High School, in Academy School District 20. She has been a teacher for about 6 years, not all at her current high school, but all her experience is at the high school level. Ms. Bierman undergraduate work was in Biology and holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She is currently working on a second Master’s degree in Leadership and Education to get her Principle Licensure. It has been a pleasure working with her and I gained great insight from my interview from her.

Students bring in their own issues and the classroom becomes a social melting pot that goes beyond learning. From my own personal experiences in the classroom, drama in the classroom is not always reserved for drama class. As a new teacher I got to learn not to be over whelmed and manage these issues and support my students the best I can.
If I had to take something away from this interview and apply it to my future classroom teaching, it would be to encourage students to speak with me directly about what they like and don’t like about learning. We have a short amount of time to deliver all the content that is necessary. The sooner I can understand what my student’s need, the sooner I can adapt my lessons to meet their needs. I would rather know what works for the students at the beginning of the semester instead of finding out half way through the year. Being proactive earlier can mitigate problems
