The first interviewee is a 29-year-old man, who originally from India. He is a single graduate student of Murray State University with Information System Major. His previous educations were a bachelor degree in Mathematics and an MBA in Marketing in India. He was born and raised in India and this is the first time he comes to the United States.

Q: What does “being shy” mean to you?
A: It means you are not talking to a person, hiding from that person. You won’t be maintaining eye contact with that person. The body language can also express your shyness.

Q: Do you presently consider yourself to be shy?

A: The time when I had to present something to some people in the workplace. I felt stage fear. Q: Why do you think you felt uncomfortable in this particular situation?
A: It was not my first time doing a presentation but the way people were looking at you for that time. It made me nervous.

Q: What were some of the thoughts you had about communicating with others in this situation?
A: I had a lot of thoughts. Questions like how was their acceptance of my presentation, whether they had a positive or negative comment about my presentation.

Q: Do you recall how you felt during the situation? What kind of symptoms that your body feel?
A: I was folding my hands and bite my nails because I was nervous, my heart was beating fast, and my voice quite shaky. Q: What had you done to prepare for this situation?
A: I had it prepared well, the content and the gesture. But it made no difference with my stage fear.

Q: What do you wish you had done differently?
A: I wish I had a good preparation and done more practice before the presentation. Q: Looking back on this situation now, what would you like to tell

A: I was feeling uncomfortable when I was in a group discussion in a class for the first time. Q: Why do you think you felt uncomfortable in this particular situation?
A: The members of the group were people who I never met before. They also come from different countries.

Q: What were some of the thoughts you had about communicating with others in this situation?
A: I thought that I was gonna say something wrong if I talk.

Q: Do you recall how you felt during the situation? What kind of symptoms that your body feel?
A: My heart pumping hard. I felt nervous. Q: What had you done to prepare for this situation?
A: I was not prepared for that because that was the first time I went to a class at this university.

Q: What do you wish you had done differently?
A: I wish that I had a preparation before class. Q: Looking back on this situation now, what would you like to tell yourself?
A: Be confident, it is alright if you say something wrong, also try to be an interesting person like being funny. So I can be comfortable in a group discussion.

Q: Are you still having that anxiety?
A: No, I become more comfortable
