Essay On Pastoral Interview

For my pastoral interview, I choose to interview the Senior Pastor of Huntington Central Church (Disciples of Christ) Rev. Jacque Parlato. I started the interview by asking Pastor Jacque to describe her call to ministry. More precisely I asked her to describe her calling from the time she first received it up until now. During this question Pastor Jacque began by telling me about her background and early life. She informed me that she was born and raised in Santiago California, to parents that she described as people who didn’t have everything put together. As a child, Pastor Jacque said that she did anything and everything to go to church, whether she had to go with friends, neighbors, on a bus, or even walked; she did everything she could to have the opportunity to worship along others in …show more content…
Pastor Jacque said that she finds her greatest strength in ministry in Pastoral Care. She said that she loved doing visitation with her church members, and that she felt very confident during hospital visitation and when she helped members of her congregation cope with loss. From here Pastor Jacque described the aspect of ministry she finds her greatest weakness in, and that is administration. As she went on to explain this to me, she explained that Pastoral administration was not required at LTS, and was not a major focus there. After graduating and still being a part of LTS she has brought this up with the administrators there. She also gave me different situations of administration situations I will face, and advice on how to approach dealing with them.
