Interview Analysis: Who Is An Ice Breaker?

Decent Essays
This Interview is the product of what my professor thought would be a good idea for the class to get to know one another: ice breakers.

Although I understand the reasoning behind them and appreciate the efforts of my professor, I still think ice breakers are quite awkward. Growing up I was always told "things don't have to be awkward if you don't make them so", and to this statement I say, "Honey, I was born awkward."

I find that if I let my encounters and conversations with people happen organically, then it feels like I can establish a genuine connection versus forcing conversation in an effort to fill up silence or "break the ice"; I prefer to let it melt.

But back to the reason why I am writing this post: this interview. For this assignment

As I walked into the small building, that in fact looked very enormous at the time, I began to anticipate every answer I would give to the person who interviewed me, so that to them, I would at least seem prepared. Although I had practiced my interviewing skills that very morning, I felt anxious and worried. Not knowing what to expect, many different scenarios ran through my mind, all of which weren't making my situation any better. Questions after questions were asked, all which seemed impossible for me to answer, and I felt as though I blew the whole thing. After the interview, many days passed by, and I had convinced myself that I did not get job.…

    1. I think that I would rather have a conversation with others in phone because it limits the chances of misinterpretations. I mostly text my friends or family because if they’re busy with something, it is just more convenient for them to check their phone and see that I texted them. Another great reason I rather text is because I come from a big family and if there was an emergency, one person’s text can be sent to everyone in my family text group. The only thing that I hate is because I can send anything with emotion in the message, so conflicts would arise.…

Inclusive language means speaking in a way that includes and respects everyone, whether that be speaking about their thoughts and feelings, or their experiences. Speaking inclusively is not holding any judgements about a person prior to getting to know them. This is hard to do as many people unconsciously have judgements about people based on their own experiences. It is also easy to unknowingly offend someone by saying something or doing something they do not agree with. The only way someone will know if they have done this is if the person makes a face or says something.…
