Intervention Project: Healthy Eating and Exercising

The behavior that I would like to change is eating healthier and exercising. For the past two years I have lived a sedentary life. I used to exercise four times a week for at least an hour. I have gained over 30 pounds in the past 2 ½ years. Right before I gained this weight, I was informed by my primary care physician that I was 20 pounds overweight for my height. It was not as if I wanted to gain weight, but my morale to exercise was gone. I plan to track my change in my eating habits by utilizing calorie counter apps on my phone in order to track my calorie intake daily. My daily calorie intake limit will be 2200 calories . I will be swapping out sugary drinks and drinking more water

I spent the day reading for the class in between the downtime that I had at work. Once I left the office, I went to the daycare to pick up the children. After winding down for an hour, I attended my Real Appeal fitness session from 7:00-7:30 pm. My calorie intake for the 1212 calories. My recommended calorie intake from my fitness coach is 1515 calories. My water intake remained the same for today as it was yesterday. I have decided that at the point when I start to get full I will not overindulge and go over my limit. Today I went to sleep at around 10:45 pm and slept straight through until 6:20 am the next morning. My sleeping habits vary from day to …show more content…
The day began for me at 8:50 am as I overslept and did not make it to work on time. I arrived at work at around 9:30 am. Still exhausted, I was barely able to hold my head up during my staff meeting with my supervisor. By the time lunch came I was ravenous and went to Sonic. In one seating, I consumed well over 500 calories. I was extremely disappointed. I was discouraged because the night before had been a rough night. I was consumed with stress from my personal life and school work. This stress would not allow my mind to relax and this is the reason why I went to sleep so late the night before. At around 5:00 pm I was off of work. After leaving the office, I sat in traffic for an hour. I arrived at home around 6:15 pm and then I grabbed a few belongings as I headed off to my swimming class. I was in swimming class from 7:30 pm until 8:30 pm. While there, I burned 524 calories. Yay, Me! After showering and washing my hair I turned in for the night at around 10:55 pm. Tomorrow will be a better day. I will begin to take into account that just because I go to a fast food restaurant does not mean that I have to eat for that is high in fat and calories. I will have to keep in mind that eating a salad and being aware of the calorie content of the food that I consume is a big part in healthier

While the costs for this study are considerable and the outcome could have significant impacts on how we view the relationship between health, exercise and eating habits, it is entirely unacceptable for Dr. Powell and the Center to accept sponsorship money from Kiddie Kola and Burger Shack. This sponsorship money will undermine the objectivity of the research and the legitimacy of the results. It should go without saying that the only reason Kiddie Kola and Burger Shack are willing to cover the research costs is because they want to dictate the results in advance -- namely, that it is perfectly okay for kids to eat fast food burgers and sugary sodas as long as they get enough exercise.…

These interventions that I have can promote ways for elementary students to have the mindset of choosing healthy decisions that avoids the risk of obesity. All of the interventions is related to obesity of how they can do things to avoid obesity. I choose these interventions because it is key for children to learn about these insights and also for the community to be notified about the seriousness in obesity within elementary students. These are children who likes to have fun and interact. An intervention that is just lecturing children has little effect on them of learning about obesity.…

The calculated amount is higher than my average intake of calories, because through the three days my average caloric intake was calculated to be 2,313 kcal. My caloric intake is still higher than my average expenditure (2,305 calories) which is good, because it is only higher by a relatively small amount. In the section labeled calories for the day it was calculated that my total calories for the day are below my goal, but after comparing the two numbers ( 2,522 and 2,313) I’m only under by a fairly small amount of 219 calories per day. This is probably where I should be though, because I believe I fall in between what they would consider to be active and sedentary. My carbohydrates intake is also below the goal, but this was suggested in the calorie and fat report, because my AMDR for carbohydrates was at the lower end of the scale.…

For breakfast on Tuesday, the 13th, I had another smoothie, which I enjoyed, as I always do. After my second class of the day I have an hour long break, during which I always go to Whole Foods to get coffee and lunch. Going out to pick up lunch seems pretty typical, at least in the Bay Area, despite the fact that it can be expensive, which is why I am glad I only have time to buy lunch out twice a week. At Whole Foods I got some fruit, made a salad at the salad bar, and some spring rolls from the sushi bar that I decided to save for later in the afternoon. I enjoyed my fruit but was a little disappointed with the salad as it was pretty bland without any dressing, so I poured some of the peanut sauce that comes with the spring rolls on it and it was ultimately…

My overall food behaviors in these four days were very eye-opening to me. As it turns out, I need to pay more attention to what I’m putting into my body. A lot of my essential nutrients were low because I wasn’t eating enough calories and the foods that I were eating were high in fat. I need to work on getting enough whole grains, lean protein, fruits, and vegetables throughout my day. I now know that less calories, doesn’t mean healthy eating.…

On the second day my lunch was not typical because I went out with my friend, but other than lunch, my breakfast, dinner and snacks were typical. On the first day I went over my recommended calorie consumption by 371 calories but for having 2.5 hours of rowing that day I think that I didn’t eat to many calories compared to all of the calories I burned. On the second day I went under my recommended calorie consumption by 626 calories. On the first day my outlier was the chili I ate for dinner, it was 777 calories.…

Over the course of the semester I was able to understand the importance of my health and how it could affect my daily activities. In order to use the criteria from this semester and apply it to my personal life choices, I had to evaluate myself. In doing so, I created a report card giving myself a grade on the following categories: my diet, amount of sleep, stress management, and the amount of exercise in the past year. Over the past week I recorded my diet without regulation. I soon gave myself a D+ after the third day.…

This class was actually very interesting and really helped me to open my eyes to the ways in which I have been not focusing on my physical health. When it comes to my present activity level, a lot has changed from the beginning of this class. I have to say that before this class I never made physical activity a priority in my day. I counted walking to class as a form of physical activity, which it was, but not enough. I am a lazy person and would rather be laying around watching Netflix than going to the gym.…
